Every day we encounter situations we do not like. Our normal reaction is to become frustrated and angry. By developing new ways to relate to these experiences and learning to accept these situations, our capacity to accept difficulties will increase and we shall find the freedom and joy that true patience brings.  Through developing positive mental habits, in and out of meditation, we can learn to approach life with confidence and eventually come to experience the peace of mental freedom.

This 3-part course will consist of talks, guided meditations and a chance to ask questions.  Everybody welcome – no previous experience required.

SATURDAY SEP 7 / 10.00-11.15am

The power of patience.  With patience, we can accept any pain that is inflicted upon us and we can easily endure our usual troubles and indispositions. With patience, nothing upsets our peace of mind and we do not experience problems. With patience, we maintain an inner peace and tranquility that allows spiritual realizations to grow.

SATURDAY SEP 14 / 10.00-11.15am

Letting go of attachment.  By controlling our desire we can make ourself happy all the time.  This is because uncontrolled desire is the source of all suffering and problems.  We have strong attachment to the fulfilment of our own desires, and as a result we create so many problems and dangers in the world.  Through developing strategies to control our attachments we can be free from all problems.  Therefore we need to understand how to control our desire.

SATURDAY SEP 21 / 10.00-11.15am

How to transform adversity.  By training in meditation we can learn to transform all the difficult experiences of our life into opportunities to find a pure and lasting happiness. We can let go of the tension and frustration which causes us so much mental pain. We will then discover a deep source of peace and happiness within our own mind.
