WHY MEDITATE?

Happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind, not in external situations.  When our mind is peaceful we are free from worries and mental discomfort, and we experience true happiness.

THE BENEFITS

Stress Reduction

Meditation will allow you to relax, refresh and renew your mind, providing you with effective tools for dealing with stress, worry and anxiety.

Inner Calm

If we practice meditation we will experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind.  Daily challenges will be easier to deal with and many of our usual problems will fall away.

Problem Solving Solutions

Meditation helps us to gain clarity and perspective so we develop a positive outlook on life, gain authentic self-confidence and enjoy better relationships with others.

The Ultimate Path to Freedom

The practice of the stages of the path to liberation can be condensed into the three higher trainings of higher moral discipline, higher concentration and higher wisdom. These trainings are called ‘higher’ because they are motivated by renunciation. They are therefore the actual path to liberation that we need to practise.

The Liberating Power of Pure Imagination

What kind of world does a Buddha see?  Buddhas or enlightened beings perceive only pure things, a pure world.  Because only complete purity appears to a Buddha’s mind, a Buddha experiences only pure happiness.  How can we come to perceive our impure world in the way that a Buddha perceives a pure world?

We all wish to experience enduring love. But how do we maintain harmony in our relationships? How do we avoid our relationships sliding into fault-finding and resentment, or indifference? Keeping Peaceful in a Turbulent World

There are many serious issues in our modern world that feel beyond our control — but despite this, our inner peace can be nurtured and sustained.   Buddha’s teachings offer many practical tools that allow us to acknowledge challenges without becoming overwhelmed.  With peaceful minds, we can skillfully respond to whatever is happening in our daily lives and also be helpful to others.

In Pursuit of Happiness

Everyone wants to be happy, and no one wants to suffer, but very few people understand what is the real cause of happiness, and what is the real cause of suffering. Throughout history human beings have sought to improve their external situation, yet despite all our efforts many would say we are no happier. Where do we look to find this happiness that seems so elusive?
