Keeping Peaceful in a Turbulent World
Drop-In Meditation Classes
May 12, 19, 26, Jun 2 | 10.30-11.30am
IN-PERSON
There are many serious issues in our modern world that feel beyond our control — but despite this, our inner peace can be nurtured and sustained. Buddha’s teachings offer many practical tools that allow us to acknowledge challenges without becoming overwhelmed. With peaceful minds, we can skillfully respond to whatever is happening in our daily lives and also be helpful to others.
WEEKLY TOPICS
MAY 12 ~ The Power of Intention
Our mind becomes involved with whatever we pay attention to – so, in turn, our happiness depends upon what our mind energizes. We can choose what we wish to focus on, thereby reducing negativity. A positive intention has a powerful effect on the shape of our lives.
MAY 19 ~ The Benefits of a Regular "Mind-Check-up"
Mindfulness helps us not to forget our positive intentions. Without mindfulness, our mind is like a leaky pot; no matter how much wisdom is contained within, it will not remain steady. It is possible to develop a quality of mindfulness that allows us to positively and peacefully steer our mind.
May 26 ~ The Helpful Warning Light on the Dashboard of our Mind
By developing alertness, we can protect our mind from developing inappropriate attention. Instead, we can use our wisdom to prevent negative thoughts and feelings from becoming overwhelming.
Jun 2 ~ The Power of “The Pause”
By developing our ability to pause and consider our response to challenging people or situations, our actions and speech will be more skillful – allowing our mind to remain peaceful despite the difficulties.
