Suitable for everyone!  These classes offer practical methods to improve the quality of our lives through meditation and Buddhist teachings.  See detailed course descriptions below.

DAY:  Friday, 10.30-11.30am

WHERE:  Centre for Active Living |1229 Clarke Rd, Brentwood Bay, BC | Weavers’ Room

COST:  Drop-in $15 per class
(or included in GP Centre Card Membership)


Please arrive a few minutes before class starts and pay at the classroom door (cash or cheque) .


Enrol in a $60 monthly membership and enjoy unlimited drop-in access to these classes plus discounts on other KMC Victoria events and classes in Victoria. (Please enrol online at least 3 days before your first class)

Becoming Our Own Teacher

Starting Feb 2 | 10.30 -11.30am


Buddha taught that happiness is a peaceful mind. Developing this mind does not mean that challenges and painful feelings won’t arise from time to time – as well as moments of joy. It means that instead of grasping at external thoughts, feelings and objects – we can use whatever arises to increase our wisdom and compassion. Our daily circumstances become our teacher rather than obstacles. These classes will explore how to recognize the chance to grow from whatever circumstances arise in our lives.


Debbi Jones

Debbi is an experienced meditation teacher at Kadampa Meditation Centre Victoria and a long-term practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism. She has more than 20 years secondary school teaching experience and enjoys sharing the practical benefits of meditation in daily life.

Q. What are the COVID protocols for participants?
  • Stay home if sick or not feeling well
  • Masks are optional
Q. Do I need to have any experience?
No. Everyone is welcome, including beginners. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.
Q. How should I dress?
No special clothing is required, come as you are.
Q. Is there any physical exercise involved?
No. The classes focus on meditation and teachings alone. You can choose to sit on a chair or meditation cushion.
Q. Do I need to book in advance?

Please just drop in a few minutes before the class starts and pay at the door with cash or cheque.  Members just tick their name on the list.
