How to Develop Compassion
Part of the Shattering Our Complacency series
Pure compassion is a mind that finds the suffering of others unbearable, but it does not make us feel depressed. In fact it gives us tremendous energy to work for others and to complete the spiritual path for their sake.It shatters our complacency and makes it impossible to rest content with the superficial happiness of satisfying our worldly desires.
In this class, Gen Zopa will focus on how to develop deep compassion.
If, on the basis of cherishing all living beings, we contemplate the fact that they experience the cycle of physical suffering and mental pain in life after life without freedom or choice, we will develop deep compassion for them.
