Gracefully Accept Defeat
Part of the Humble Virtue or Arrogant Pride? series
Nothing good ever comes from dwelling on our own qualities and others’ faults. All that happens is that we develop a highly distorted, self-important view of ourself, and an arrogant, disrespectful attitude towards others. In this series we will explore the advantages of humility and how it enables us to learn from everyone.
In this class, Gen Zopa will explain a practice that will protect us from discouragement.
When someone out of anger or jealousy harms or insults us, with our mind abiding in love and compassion we should happily accept the harm and not retaliate. This practice protects us from discouragement and unhappiness.
