Letting Go of Self Cherishing

Part 4 of the How to See the Good in Everyone Series and a perfect standalone class as well.
Many of the difficulties we experience in our relationships arise due to not accepting others for who they are. We often focus on their faults, thinking they should behave differently, or even be other than what they are.  In these classes we will learn profound meditations on love as the antidote to these critical minds. Gradually we learn to accept the faults we see in others and to love them unconditionally.

Self-cherishing is our mind thinking ‘I am important’ while neglecting others.  It is defined as a mind that considers ourself to be supremely important and precious, and that develops from the appearance of a true existence of the self.  Nothing causes us greater harm than our self-cherishing mind.  It is impossible to find a single problem, misfortune, or painful experience that does not arise from self-cherishing.

In this class we will focus on answering these questions: What is self-cherishing? Why do I want to let go of it?  How does it benefit me and others? How can I do that while still taking care of myself?
