The law of karma teaches us that every time we engage in an action we leave an imprint upon our mind for a future experience.  Our normal reaction when faced with a problem is to try and find someone to blame.  In reality, most of our experiences in this life are caused by actions we committed in past lives.

In this thee-part course, Gen Kelsang Zopa will guide us in how to purify our negative karma and transform our experiences in this life into cause for lasting happiness.

SUNDAY SEP 9 / 10.00am-12.00pm

In this class we will learn the relationship between actions and their effects.  Virtuous actions sow seeds of future happiness, and non-virtuous actions sow seeds of future suffering.

SUNDAY SEP 16 / 10.00am-12.00pm

By understanding how our present actions give rise to our future experiences, we will want to abandon harmful actions that are the cause of suffering, and practice virtuous actions that are the cause of happiness.

SUNDAY SEP 23 / 10.00am-12.00pm

By contemplating how karma functions, we will wish to practice purification of negative karma to remove from our mental continuum the existing potentialities for unhappiness and suffering.

 Gen Kelsang Zopa

A Canadian Buddhist monk, Gen Zopa has been presenting the profound and practical teachings of the Buddhist path to enlightenment for over 20 years. Renowned for the clarity and depth of his teachings, his warmth and practicality bring to life the ancient art of meditation.

SUNDAY SEP 30 / 10:00am-2.30pm

The course will be followed by a one-day meditation retreat.  During this retreat we learn to engage in simple purification using the four opponent powers, that if practiced sincerely, remove both the causes of our future suffering and obstacles to our spiritual practice.  The retreat will be guided by Mariem Martinson, Senior Meditation Leader,  from Bodhichitta Buddhist Centre.
