Suitable for everyone!  These drop-in classes offer practical methods to improve the quality of our lives through meditation and Buddhist teachings.

Have you had a stressful morning?  Are you dealing with difficult people?  Are you stressed by the pressures of deadlines?  Do you have a demanding boss?  Learn how to bring the inner peace of meditation into your daily life.  Through following very simple, practical instructions we can learn to let go of the causes of our pain and dissatisfaction and to gain the inner peace and clarity we seek.

We all experience and often fall victim to the mind of anger.  Imagine being able to respond skillfully to problems and conflicts with a peaceful, flexible, solution-oriented mind — free from anger, repression or fear.  By understanding the nature and causes of anger, we can begin to transform problems and conflicts into opportunities for personal growth.

Often we feel trapped by the experiences we have had in the past.  Our old hurts and resentments condition our present relationships and we find ourselves stuck in unhelpful, even hurtful, patterns of behaviour.  But our past is not fixed, and there is no need for us to feel stuck.  Using Buddha’s teachings on karma and purification, we can heal the wounds of the past, enabling us to live joyfully and creatively in the present.

Many of the difficulties we experience in our relationships arise due to not accepting others for who they are.  We often focus on their faults, thinking they should be other than what they are.  In these classes we will learn profound meditations on love as the antidote to these critical minds.  Gradually we learn to accept the faults we see in others and to love them unconditionally.


Guided Meditation

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation, to help settle the mind and let go of distractions. If we wish, we can join in and recite the Liberating Prayer, which is a chanted prayer where we connect with the inspiration of enlightened beings.


The teacher will then give a practical teaching  based on the book, How To Transform Your Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The teaching will focus on how we can integrate Buddha’s timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.

Concluding Meditation

The class will finish with a concluding meditation to help us take the teaching to heart and there is also the opportunity to ask questions.

Krista is a member of the Teacher Training Program and has lead the guided meditation on Tuesdays for many years.  She has also frequently taught our Saturday classes.  Krista is well known for her kind and gentle delivery of Dharma teachings.

Q. Do I need to be a Buddhist to attend?
No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind.
Q. Do I need to have any experience?
No. Everyone is welcome, including beginners. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.
Q. How should I dress?
No special clothing is required, come as you are.
Q. Is there any physical exercise involved?
No. The classes focus on meditation and teachings alone. You can choose to sit on a chair or meditation cushion.
Q. Do I need to book in advance?
For weekly classes it is not necessary to book in advance. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in whenever you like.
Q. Do I have to wait for the next series of classes to begin?
No, please feel free to drop in whenever you like. Each class is taught in such a way that if you only attend one class, you will derive benefit from it.
